Delilah Buitrago

I am a true New Yorker, born and raised in the Bronx. My origins are Puerto Rican, African-American, and Colombian. I grew up mainly in the Bronx and spent many summers with my family in Georgia. Due to these frequently visits where we drove down to the South, I developed a love for traveling through the country. While attending Democracy Prep Charter High School, I also traveled to South Korea, Egypt, and South Africa, and would love to continue traveling around the world. I graduated with my Bachelors in Art & Education from a historically women’s institution called Bryn Mawr College. I’ve met amazing people during my time there who inspired me to becoming a person that makes a difference. To me, this means making a difference in children’s lives. I want to be a person that provides the love and the education every child needs, regardless of what their lives are like outside of school. This is my first school year although, I have volunteered at a few preschools throughout my college career and, have also volunteered by teaching art in an Elementary school in Philly. My hobbies include studio art, crafts, and watching romantic comedies… because who doesn’t love a good movie that will make you laugh and cry?!
