Hola! My name is Mariana and I am from Mexico.
Although my background is in Engineering, I have always been intrigued about the learning process and social development in children. I am constantly amazed about the great capacity of the brain to learn new things and make sense of the world around us. In my opinion, what we as human beings accomplish during the early childhood years is far more intriguing, difficult and relevant then any other aspect or concept learned thereafter.
I hold a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, from ITESM in Monterrey, MX, and a Masters in Urban Planning, from the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt, GE. I had the opportunity to work in the Middle East for ten years in design and construction, but it was not until the birth of my second son that I gave myself the opportunity to change careers, and join this creative, meaningful and important field. I now hold a Montessori Early Childhood Credential and have recently become a Music Together and Canta y Baila Conmigo certified instructor (both music and movement research based programs).
I believe that the early childhood period is the most important time in the life of a person. We learn not only to speak and move, but we develop the social intelligence that determines the possibilities of happiness and success in life. Empathy, social justice, self-confidence, self-control and personal freedom are concepts that get rooted in the spirit of children at a very early age. I am excited and thankful for having the opportunity to work with children at this age and I hope I will be able to extend a positive influence, interest in science and love for music to our children and families at Bilingual Nest.
